Engineers and Scientists of Cincinnati
Awards Archives

1888-2007

In addition to offering the community professional guidance and advice, ESC annually recognized many of its members with special awards beginning in 1950. Below are the award categories and recipients.

The Distinguished Engineer and Scientist Awards were their highest honors. It was reserved for those who had made outstanding contributions to the engineering or scientific profession. These contributions typically extend beyond our local community and are significant on a national or international basis. Their contributions can range from pioneering research or technology to national or international technical leadership.

The Young Engineer and Scientist Awards were for those who are age 35 or younger at the time of their nomination. The awards were intended to recognize those developing professionals who had made significant impact in their profession or the local engineering or scientific community.

The Professional Accomplishment and Community Service Awards recognized local engineering and scientific professionals in several areas.

The Academic Awards were for individuals in the academic field.

The Industry or Consulting Awards were for engineers and scientists in industry or consulting fields.

The Government Awards were for an engineer or scientist that was an appointee in government, elected official in government, or civil service employee in government.

The Construction Awards were for engineers in the construction field.

As the award names imply, Professional Accomplishment Awards were used to recognize contributions to the profession while Community Service Awards were used to recognize contributions to the communities in which we practice.
